Our Story

Hope & Care Alzheimer’s Support Center was born from a deeply personal experience.

My father was a hardworking, devoted family man who spent his life providing for those he loved. He owned a construction company, drove 18-wheelers, and worked tirelessly to support our family. Like many Americans, he worked hard his entire life but was unable to build the financial resources needed to prepare for the challenges that came later.

About ten years ago, after suffering a minor stroke, my father began showing signs of dementia. At first, the changes were subtle. As a proud and independent man, he struggled to accept that anything was wrong and resisted seeking help. Over time, however, his condition progressed, and he eventually reached a point where he could no longer work.

Watching someone you love slowly lose pieces of themselves is heartbreaking. My father, who had always been strong, dependable, and protective, began experiencing confusion, memory loss, and significant personality changes. He would attempt to go to jobs that no longer existed, become lost while driving, and increasingly struggle with everyday tasks.

During this time, I became a new mother. As I navigated postpartum recovery and the challenges of caring for my infant daughter, I also found myself helping care for my father. It was one of the most difficult seasons of my life. The disease caused him to forget people he loved, including me. The father who had always been my biggest supporter no longer recognized me and often viewed me as a stranger.

As his condition worsened, our family faced impossible choices. We could not afford professional caregivers, and there were few affordable resources available to support families like ours. My mother, a Certified Nursing Assistant with extensive experience caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia, left her job to care for my father full-time. Even with her expertise, the physical and emotional demands were overwhelming

At the same time, I became pregnant with twins. My mother found herself caring for my father, my young daughter, and eventually my newborn twins while I worked to support our family. Despite her strength and dedication, the burden was immense. We often wished there had been a safe, affordable place where my father could spend his days receiving specialized care, social interaction, and meaningful activities while giving our family the opportunity to rest and recharge.

Eventually, my father’s disease progressed to the point where he no longer recognized my mother—the one person he had consistently trusted throughout his journey. At that moment, we knew we could no longer provide the level of care he needed at home. Making the decision to place him in a nursing facility was one of the most painful decisions our family has ever faced.

My father was not defined by Alzheimer’s disease. He was a loving husband, devoted father, hardworking provider, and a man who sacrificed everything for his family. Yet this disease gradually took away so much of who he was.

Hope & Care Alzheimer’s Support Center was created in his honor and for every family facing a similar journey.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, dignified care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias while offering much-needed support and relief to caregivers. We understand the emotional, physical, and financial challenges families face because we have lived them ourselves.

We envision a place where families know their loved ones are safe, respected, and cared for by people who truly understand the disease. A place where caregivers can find support, encouragement, and a listening ear. A place where no family has to feel alone.

If we can provide even a small measure of relief, hope, and compassion to families navigating dementia, then we are fulfilling the purpose that inspired the creation of Hope & Care Alzheimer’s Support Center.
